I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Austin Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that’s you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in Austin today:
- Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 19, but if you don’t have a gift yet or don’t know where you’re going to celebrate with your dad, several local businesses are happy to help with gift ideas and activities in the Austin area! Listen to Tierra Neubaum from FOX 7 discuss three “businesses in Austin” where you may “find that perfect gift,” and check out “a list of other places you can go to either buy something or participate in a fun activity” at: (FOX 7 Austin)
- After Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick requested $50 million “to immediately purchase bulletproof shields for school police departments,” Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, who supports the purchase, “pitched redirecting more than $100 million in state funding to quickly boost mental health and school safety programs before school starts again next fall.” He said, “I believe our respective chambers have the obligation to take immediate, concrete action with the goal of making our schools as safe as possible before the start of the upcoming school year.” For more information visit: (KEYE TV CBS Austin)
- Seattle’s APsystems will be “moving its U.S. base of operations to Austin, at 8701 North MoPac Expressway, Suite 160,” along with “experienced management executive Daniel Burke as country director for its U.S. business unit.” According to company officials, the location “offers better proximity to customers nationwide and will serve as a central base of operations for APsystems’ U.S. business unit.” Olivier Jacques, APsystems president of global business units and global executive vice-president, said, “The relocation of our U.S. main office to Austin, and the strategic hire of Daniel Burke, are foundational groundwork for the next stage of our growth and customer support in the U.S.” More details at: (Solar Builder Magazine)
- After closing its original location last year on 1519 East Cesar Chavez St., Bufalina pizzeria and wine restaurant will reopen at a new location on 2215 East Cesar Chavez St. sometime this summer. “Chef Grae Nonas, recently known for his Italian restaurant-turned-pop-up Le Cowboy,” will join the team, bringing with him his “handmade pastas and breads.” Ownew Steven Dilley said, “I’ve long admired Grae’s cooking and feel that it’s very much in line with what we’ve always done at Bufalina.” For more information visit: (Eater Austin)
- After more than a week, possibly due to medical reasons, the members of “Mornings with Matt and Bob” were back together again in the studio! Despite the unforeseen circumstances, “the boys never missed a beat thanks to the miracles known as the internet and remote broadcasting.” Listen to them weekday mornings from 6-10 a.m. on KLBJ-FM!
