
A financial news website that rode the lockdown cryptocurrency and meme-stock retail boom has suffered a blow from the post-pandemic collapse in day trading.
ADVFN suffered the indignity of featuring on its own front page yesterday as one of the biggest losers on the London Stock Exchange. Its share price fell by almost a third on the Aim index, down by 20½p to 55p, after a profit warning was issued to the market.
The digital publisher, which claims 36 million global readers, warned of disappointing sales in the year to date. It expects to record a significant net loss before tax in its results for the half year to June 30.
It said: “Sales to date in the half-year period have been disappointing and, while
